Transforming Rural India is hosting the India Rural Colloquy – a series of fireside conversations hosted between August 1st and August  8th on issues that matter to rural communities. The Colloquy’s focus is on surfacing answers and responses to the changing profile, opportunities, and challenges of men and women who are entering the workforce in the poorest states; confronting emerging opportunity trends, building resilience, and exploring antifragile opportunities in a post-pandemic context.

The conversations with eminent development practitioners, policymakers, administrators, and philanthropies will guide in seeking an equitable society with opportunities for all. Designed in the spirit of commemoration of the 79th anniversary of the August Revolution on 8th August 1942, one of history’s largest mass movements of freedom and dignity, the colloquy resonated with the spirit of the revolution, symbolizing the spirit of the Indian people to become their own leaders.

Issues being discussed span Rural Development, Energy, Agriculture, Health, Gender, and Social Justice. Some of the sessions include Going Forward – Transforming Rural India; Gender Equality and Justice, Women’s Collectives and Rural Economic Empowerment, Data Science for Improving Governance; Sustainable Energy – Unlock Accelerating Rural Livelihoods, Circularity, and Profitable Agriculture, etc.

Swapnil Shekhar – Founder at Sambodhi Research and Communications, and Senior Fellow – The Development Intelligence Unit spoke about the use of data to deploy better governance and public service delivery.
